Residents of East Delhi will not have to visit far-flung zonal offices for even small things such as collecting and submitting forms.
In a bid to improve civic facilities, the East Delhi Municipal Corporation has decided to set up an integrated ward-level office complex in each of the 64 municipal wards. In these offices, residents will find representative of every department such as horticulture, electrical and engineering.
“The new offices would have two advantages. On the one hand, the ground level staff will now have a place to assemble and report to work, on the other hand residents would also benefit as they would not have to visit the zonal offices,” said EDMC commissioner SS Yadav.
Officers such as junior engineer (maintenance), junior engineer (electrical), health inspectors, section officers of horticulture department, officers from malaria and sanitation department among others will have their offices in the new office complex, work for which will be taken up in a phased manner.
Yadav has ordered the deputy commissioners of the two administrative zones to identify 10 locations in the first phase.
