The mismatch between delivery of education models and actual industry requirements is increasing and the issue needs to be addressed immediately for sustainable growth in India and across the globe — this was the essence of a panel discussion organised by India Education Services, a joint venture between HT Media Ltd, which owns Hindustan Times, and US-based Apollo Global.

Dipak Jain, former dean of INSEAD and Kellogg School of Management, one of the panel members, underlined the need to provide quality education to the younger generation. “While companies are upscaling skills of their employees on a regular basis to keep pace with the changing dynamics, the training and learning process should also come from outside to meet the yawning gap between what is available and what is needed,” Jain said.

American academic administrator and former president of Northwestern University Henry S Blenen pointed out the growing difficulty of finding people with the right skills in the US.

Rajiv Verma, HT Media CEO, however, pointed out that this was not a new phenomenon. He also said this was the reason why several companies were focusing on re-skilling their employees. India Education Services is slated to launch an online management school soon.
