Eminent journalist Sham Lal is dead

He joined Hindustan Times in '34 and took over as editor of the Times of India in '67.

Sham Lal, one of India's most eminent journalists and long time editor of the Times of India, passed away in the Capital on Friday morning. He was 94.

Sham Lal joined journalism in 1934 with the Hindustan Times. He took over as editor of the Times of India in 1967 and continued for 11 years till 1978. Widely respected for his views and intellect, Sham Lal's columns continued to attract a wide readership.

The funeral will take place at 3 pm on Friday.
