Retired police officer KK Gautam has backed his claims that he discovered the body of domestic help Hemraj lying on the terrace, trying to settle confusion over claims that Dr Rajesh Talwar informed the police about it.

Gautam visited the Talwar house in Sector 25 when Dr Talwar and his family were on way to Haridwar to immerse their daughter Aarushi’s ashes a day after she was found dead.

The retired cop claimed he found Hemraj’s body while following some clues he found in the flat. Gautam said he is not related to the Talwars but went to the house after a friend of Rajesh’s younger brother Dinesh requested him.

“The owner of I Care hospital, Dr Sushil Chowdhary, asked me to accompany him to the flat. I went in good faith,” he said. “I suspected something since the chain of events did not fall in place and I went to check the house terrace.”

Contrary to his claims, the Noida police told a court that Dr Talwar himself called them from a PCO while on way to Haridwar informing Hemraj’s body had been discovered on the terrace. This effectively could be read in two ways. One, Gautam discovered the body of Hemraj, following which someone told Talwar who was on his way to Haridwar and he in turn told the police.

The other possibility is that Talwar informed the police that the body had been found on the terrace. Gautam doesn’t come in the picture in this theory, a conjecture he has rubbished.

"I reached Dr Choudhary’s hospital at 10 a.m. on that day and proceeded to Talwar's house at Sector 25. On reaching the Talwars we found Rajesh Talwar and his wife Nupur Talwar had gone to Haridwar,” he said.
