The government has cleared the name of former foreign secretary Ranjan Mathai as India’s new envoy to the United Kingdom. A formal announcement is expected shortly.

The government has cleared the name of former foreign secretary Ranjan Mathai as India’s new envoy to the United Kingdom. A formal announcement is expected shortly.

Belgium, Germany, Malaysia, Nigeria, Mozambique and Portugal are among the few counties to see new Indian ambassadors. Manjeev Singh Puri is tipped to be the next Indian envoy in Brussels. India’s ambassador in Malaysia Vijay Golkhale is likely to head to Germany to succeed Sujatha Singh, the present foreign secretary.

TS Tirumurthi, joint secretary at the ministry of external affairs (MEA), may be posted to Malaysia. After serving the crucial BSM (Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Maldives) division, Harshvardhan Shringla will go to Thailand as the next envoy. AR Ghanshyam, MEA additional secretary, will be the next envoy to Nigeria.
