A 25-year-old sales executive was stabbed to death and his brother injured by two drunken men in a brawl that was reported from west Delhi's Nihal Vihar area late on Friday night, police said.
The incident, police said, was triggered by the victim's objection to the accused duo's hurling abuses at him in front of his wife and children.
"Manoj, the victim, and his brother, Jagbir (27) were at their residence in Nihal Vihar's Laxmi Park and were preparing for dinner when the accused, identified as Nadeem and Mosin, both in their early 30s and understood to be heavily drunk, were passing by," said a senior Delhi Police officer requesting anonymity. The drunken duo started hurling abuses in thin air as they passed-by, forcing Manoj and Jagbir to step-out, and ask them to refrain from doing so citing the presence of women and children in the house.
"Both the accused left after a brief exchange of words with Manoj and Jagbir, but again returned around 10.30pm, called-out to both victims and entered into a verbal spat with them and made a escape after stabbing them multiple times," the officer said.
Police said they were intimated about the incident at 11.15pm and both Manoj and Jagbir were rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital where Jagbir is now recuperating while Manoj, who was referred to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, succumbed to his injuries.
"Cases of murder and attempt to murder have been registered at Nihal Vihar police station,” the officer added.
