FCB Ulka head Kapoor new ABC chief

Anil Kapoor, Managing Director and CEO of FCB Ulka Advertising, has been elected as the new chairman of the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) for the year 2007-08, according to an ABC press release on Thursday.

Kapoor has been a member of ABC's council of management since 1995 and was deputy chairman for 2006-07. He is also the past president of the Advertising Agencies Association of India, Mumbai.

Publishers' representative CH Kiron of Ushodaya Enterprises has been elected deputy chairman, while advertising agencies' representative Prem Mehta of Lintas India is honorary secretary.

Advertising agencies' representative Sam Balsara of Madison Communications is the honorary treasurer while Shashidhar Sinha of Universal McCann Erickson-India has been elected as a member of the management council.

The advertisers' representatives on the council are Subroto Chattopadhyay of RPG Enterprises, Romit Chaterji of Tata Services and Paulomi Dhawan of Raymond.

The publishers' representatives elected to the council are Vijay Darda of Lokmat Newspapers, Ravi Dhariwal of Bennett, Coleman and Co., T. Venkattram Reddy of Deccan Chronicle Holdings, Shailesh Gupta of Jagran Prakashan, Amitabha Datta of ABP, Manoj Kumar Sonthalia of Express Publications-Madurai and M Venkatesh of HT Media.
