If you are a young voter, you can expect zero per cent tax on chota mobile recharge, promises BJP candidate from New Delhi constituency Vijay Goel as part of his youth agenda.
This is apart from more educational institutions, soft education loans and concessional Metro passes for students that Goel promises.
Goel launched his ‘Youth Express’ on Thursday, a special van that would travel across the constituency and run a special 17 minute film showing his youth agenda.
“Almost 50 per cent of the voters are young and I am the only candidate in the country who has a separate agenda for them,” he said.
Senior BJP leader Arun Shourie and Delhi University Students’ Union president Nupur Sharma were also present during the launch.
The van would also have an anchor who would answer questions about the youth agenda and take suggestions from young voters, which Goel feels would help him in feeling the pulse of the youth and know what they want.
“This young generation has been brought up on technology and understand it much better than our generation. That is why it is important we respond to their needs accordingly. I have suggested that the government needs to have zero per cent tax on Chota mobile recharge, which is essentially used by the youth and of course the lower classes,” Goel said. He also wants zero per cent tax on Internet by small users like the youth.
Goel is also promising more government colleges, polytechnics, ITIs and vocational colleges apart from improving the infrastructure of Delhi University. He also wants stricter enforcement of the ban on ragging.
“I was a DUSU president myself and have studied from Sri Ram College of Commerce, so I understand the need of the youth,” he said.
Safety of girls also finds place in Goel’s agenda and he wants proper street lighting to increase safety.
“A fresh list of habitual offenders must be prepared and publicised on the Internet and all public places,” he said.
Goel also promises softer education loans for students to study in educational institutions both in India and abroad.
