With distcom NDPL carrying out grid repair work on Wednesday, Delhi Jal Board’s (DJB) water treatment plants — Wazirabad and Chandrawal — will also be affected.
According to DJB, most areas in South Delhi and other parts of the city that depend on these two plants for their water supply will be affected.
“Water supply will be at low pressure on Wednesday as urgent grid maintenance work is being carried out by NDPL,” said Sanjam Cheema, spokesperson, DJB.
The board has advised the residents to store sufficient water for the day.
Even the VIP areas of the New Delhi Municipal Council will also face shortage of water.
Areas such as Greater Kailash I and II, Saket, Malviya Nagar, Defence Colony, Andrews Ganj, South Extension, Chirag Delhi, Kalkaji Janta Flats, Jama Masjid and Chandni Chowk, among others, will be affected the most. “There was a breakdown in Civil Lines area three months ago in which the breaker had a flash over. We needed to replace that and for the past three months we had asked the DJB to give us a date for carrying out the routine work. It is only after consultation with the board that we chose Wednesday. Also, power and water supply will only be affected for two hours, and only a small part is getting affected,” said an NDPL spokesman.
