Five school children and a driver suffered injuries when a Radio Taxi cab hit their school van near Savitri Cinema flyover in Southeast Delhi on Thursday morning.
The police said the incident took place at seven am in Chittaranjan Park.
Police were informed of the incident by a pedestrian while the driver of the Versa cab escaped from the spot.
The victims have been identified as Sahiba Kaur, her sisters Simran Kaur and Simran, who were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Amrita and Pushpreet along with the driver of the school van, identified as Sanju, alias Sonu were admitted to the AIIMS Trauma centre. All the students are residents of Shivalik in South Delhi.
The police sources said the victims were going to Guru Harikrishan Public school situated in Greater Kailash-I when their school van developed a technical snag while coming down Savitri flyover The driver pushed the van to one side of the road and was trying to repair the fault when a speeding Maruti Versa car slammed the van.
All the students who were inside the vehicle suffered injuries along with the driver due to the impact of the crash.
The police was informed by a pedestrian while the driver of the Versa cab escaped from the spot.
“Amrita has suffered multiple fractures in her legs while the other students have been discharged. We are looking for the driver. A case has been registered at CR Park police station,” said a police officer.
