The Lodhi Colony Police have arrested five members of the inter-state Chotta Sharafat Gang involved in several car jackings.

Police said the robbers had different modus operandi, including asking for lifts. Once in the vehicle they would overpower the driver, stip him, tie his limbs and throw him in ridge areas. “They would also use a torch at road sides posing as sales tax officials and traffic constables and enter trucks and cars. They also targeted call centre cabs and trucks parked on the roadside in the wee hours and rob drivers of cell phones and cash,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) HGS Dhaliwal.

The arrested accused include kingpin Sharafat (23), Rakesh (25), Nadeem (19), Mohammed Saleem (19) and Bharat (23). An Indica, a Santro and two Taveras, which they robbed and used in crimes were recovered by the police.
