The Rajdhani College washroom for women is under construction. The work, however, is taking longer than expected to complete.

“The main washroom in the girls’ common room was closed for renovation almost six months ago and the lock has now become a permanent fixture,” said a student who did not wish to be identified. “We come under one of the country’s best universities but the state of affairs here is pathetic.”

Principal Vijay Laxmi Pandit attributes the delay to irresponsibility on the contractor’s part. But what sounds like a legitimate excuse has caused a lot of inconvenience to female students.

Those studying arts, currently, have just one toilet available for them. As a result, one usually finds a small crowd of students waiting outside the toilet.

“There are many girls who come to this college from remote areas and they feel embarrassed to wait outside in front of other students, especially boys,” said a girl student of B.Com (Honours).

“It’s strange but I have to plan my visit to the washroom to avoid rush cause then one has to wait anything between 15 to 20 minutes for her turn,” she added.
