Free breakfast, free lunch and a car rally thrown in — sound exciting? There is even the possibility of winning prizes. The trade off: wake up early tomorrow, forget it’s a Sunday, and be at Tivoli Gardens at 8.30 a.m. Breakfast will be served, yes, but this is not about food.
Indian Oil — of the petrol pumps you see all over fame — has turned fifty. And as part of the celebrations, it’s holding the 9th Family Fun Car Rally which will start at Tivoli Garden & Resorts by 10 a.m ( be there at 8.30 a.m for the briefing, though), and end at The Ashoka, Chanakyapuri by 3 p.m where “heavy snacks” are promised.
Incentive enough, we guess. Add to which, it could be a great way to bond with the Mamas and Papas — a total of four members from your family are allowed to pile into a car (your own) and play whatever you feel is music.
In the spirit of competition, participants up their scores by picking up points along the 70 km long route. We’ll give you a hint: sealed envelopes are involved, and marshal booths are scattered along the way.
More than 500 people have already registered. It’s free and today is the last day, so buck up. And be nattily clad — there is a contest for the best-dressed man and woman. Not least of all, this is also your big chance to dress up your wheels. Bring on the streamers and shaadi waala garlands and see you at the finish line.
