A former air force staffer, his wife and three others have been arrested for allegedly cheating several persons after promising them jobs in the railways.
Narender, who quit in 1992 as a corporal with the Indian Air Force, and his wife Renu were arrested along with Nakshe Lal Mishra, Nand Kishore and Manish, and several forged recommendation letters from the railway ministry were found with them, Devesh Shrivastava, additional CP (central), said.
“The arrests came after investigations into complaints filed by a Haryana resident, Surender Singh, and Delhi-based PL Mimrothi that 45-year-old Narender and his wife Renu had cheated them and others of several lakhs of rupees,” Shrivastava added.
The gang brandished fake appointment orders reportedly given to them at the Rail Bhawan, the headquarters of the railways, the police said.
“The victim would be taken to the railway hospital in Old Delhi, where his ‘medical’ examination would be done. Kishore used to work as a peon in this hospital and helped with the examination,” Shrivastava said.
