Four boys mowed down by train

delhi Updated: Aug 15, 2007 16:54 IST

Four boys were killed when a train hit them while they were flying kites near the railway tracks on the occasion of Independence Day on Wednesday, Delhi Police said.

The accident occurred between near Seelampur railway tracks in northeast Delhi at around 2 pm.

According to police, three children received fatal head injuries while the fourth child who came in front of the train was severed into two pieces.

The victims could not be identified immediately but police suspect the boys resided in a nearby slum colony.

"It seems the boys were flying kites close to the railway tracks and accidentally came in contact with the moving train," a police official said.
