Getting an accident victim or a woman in labour to a hospital and getting them treated will soon be a call away.
On the lines of 108-emergency services provided by GVK EMRI across nine states in the country, the Delhi government is all set to introduce an emergency medical help service before the Commonwealth Games. By just dialing a toll free three-digit number, anyone can get a van at his doorstep which will take him to a hospital, free of cost.
Rakesh Mehta, Chief Secretary, Delhi Government, told Hindustan Times: "We will soon launch this unique service in Delhi. Our service will have three salient features including emergency service, important information and grievance monitoring. We have already asked ministry of Telecom to select an easy to remember three-digit number like 108 as the SOS number for the service."
According to a senior government official government would probably sign an agreement with GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI), if it could provide all three services through 108-SOS number.
