A 38-year-old French national of Indian origin has been missing under mysterious circumstances from east Delhi's Anand Vihar, where he was staying in a five-star hotel with his wife and 34 other fellow countrymen.
According to the police, the incident was reported to them on January 17 and a case of abduction was registered at Anand Vihar police station. The victim has been identified as Pascal Julien Lagarrigue, who hails from Saint Pierre in France.
Lagarrigue, along with wife Marie Marthe Nathalie Selley and 34 other compatriots, arrived in Delhi from France on January 14 on tourist visa, said a senior police officer. They had checked into the five-star hotel near Karkardooma Court complex on the same day.
"On January 16, Lagarrigue left the hotel on his own without telling anybody where he was going. When he did not return to the hotel till late in the evening, his wife got worried and informed her compatriots about it. They later informed the French embassy about the matter who in turn reported it to the Delhi police," said a senior police officer.
During investigations, the senior officer said, it was learnt that Lagarrigue had left the hotel with all his relevant documents like his passport and Visa. The only thing he left in the hotel was his used clothes.
"After getting information about the matter, we immediately informed the FRRO department about it and requested them to check if Lagarrigue had boarded any national or international flight. Lagarrigue's wife and other fellow countrymen left for Chennai on January 18," the officer added.
On January 17, the officer said, a woman staff of the five-star hotel had seen Lagarrigue at the Preet Vihar Metro station. She identified him because she had served the foreign delegates. Several teams are looking for Lagarrigue.
