Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal on Friday defended his security plans for the Commonwealth Games and claimed equipments required during the event were being timely procured.

Dadwal was reacting to an HT report on the Organising Committee of the Commonwealth Games casting aspersion on the security arrangements of the Delhi Police.

“I cannot keep the equipments we have bought in the parking lot at the police headquarters. We are acquiring all the necessary equipments that are in place,” Dadwal said.

The police chief said there would be no compromise on such matters and assured an absolutely safe sporting event.

“We are totally prepared and all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure that the Games are incident-free. We have left nothing that has to be addressed. There is no compromise on security issues. We want the Games to progress without any hitch.”

Asked about the security alerts issued by countries such as United States and UK regarding Delhi, he said he did not want to comment on the significance of these warnings.

“We are always cautious and I want to say that Delhi is safe. Every country has their own reasons to issue such alerts. We are taking all steps and doing our best to secure the capital,” he added.
