The northeast Delhi police have arrested a gang of auto lifters who were allegedly stealing motorcycles from the parking lots at different hospitals.

The arrested persons include a receiver named Pawan Singh (18), Vikas (19) and Mujammil (35).

Deputy commissioner of police (northeast) Sanjay Kumar Jain said: "Due to increasing incidents of motor vehicle thefts, a special drive is being carried out to apprehend such lifters. Regular checks are being conducted. Police staff in plain clothes have been deployed for the same. Special teams have been constituted to apprehend auto lifters in an area."

On November 13, the police and public allegedly caught an auto lifter named Pawan Singh, while he was trying to steal a motorcycle.

During interrogation, Singh revealed that he and his associate Vikas had committed several thefts in Delhi and nearby areas of NCR.

After stealing vehicles, they used to park them at GTB Hospital.

Then, they disposed these vehicles turn by turn, with the help of a lady in Gajraula in Uttar Pradesh, to the receiver named Mujammil.
