A notorious gangster involved in more than 40 cases was arrested in the national capital for allegedly kidnapping and killing a lawyer 10-day ago along with his associates, police said on Monday.
The arrested person was identified as Raj Kumar, a resident of Meerut involved in more than 40 cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery, dacoity and kidnapping.
Kumar, a member of the gang led by Sanjay Bhoot, was allegedly involved in kidnapping and killing Subodh Jain while he was coming back after attending a meeting in Shamli.
The arrest of Kumar yesterday from near Jamia Nagar came following information that he would come there to meet his associate.
"A trap was laid near Escort Hospital and he was arrested and a country-made pistol with four live cartridges were recovered him," a senior police official said.
During interrogation, the official claimed, Kumar told that he along with four others kidnapped and murdered Jain.
When Jain was about to leave in his car, they kidnapped him on gunpoint and taken him towards Jaani Village where they shot him before throwing his body into Ganga Canal, he said.
