The alleged mastermind of the DDA housing scam had filled forms even in the general category, the Economic Offence Wing (EoW) of Delhi police said on Friday.
Submitting before the court, public prosecutor Praveen Kumar said during his interrogation M.L. Gautam disclosed vital information about forms he filled up in the general category. And an extension of his police custody would generate strong leads into the DDA scam investigations, Kumar told the court.
The counsel for defence, D.K. Singhal, opposed their contention saying that no general category form was seized from Gautam’s possession. “The police had made false charges against Gautam. They have not got any concrete evidence even after eight days of his interrogation. As a result, the court has declined their demand to extend police custody,” said Singhal.
The police had claimed that about 1,200 DDA forms were recovered from Gautam and a total of 40 among them were of successful allottees belonging to Scheduled Caste category.
The court remanded Gautam to judicial custody till January 31.
