The first woman speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, Fahmida Mirza wants India to replicate Pakistan’s experiment of setting up a “caucus of women parliamentarians”.
“The two countries ... face similar challenges on gender issues. A common approach on these issues will help,” she said.
Mirza said she “strongly supports” the concept of 33 percent reservation for women in Indian Parliament. She said that with 23 women MPs, Pakistan Assembly has the biggest-ever representation of women.
