Transport Department on Tuesday opened its modern and fully computerised zonal office at Vasant Vihar.
The new zonal office will cater to the residents of Vasant Vihar, Vasant Kunj, R.K.Puram and other neighbouring residential colonies.
According to the transport department officials, the new zonal office will have online learners’ driving licence (DL) system. “The applicant will have to take online test. The result will be immediately available and the application of candidates clearing the test will be processed immediately,” said a senior transport department official.
Photographs and other bio-metric details of the applicants will be stored on computers and will be used while issuing the pucca DL.
Officials say it will reduce the chances of anyone fiddling with the records to almost zero.
“The applicants will not have to get in queue twice for their licence. The entire system has been streamlined for their convenience,” said the official.
The visitors will not have to move from one official to the other for information about anything. Audio systems with pre-recorded messages have been installed to provide information and procedure for everything.
The new zonal office is expected to start functioning from next week.
