A 9-year-old girl died of shock after three robbers broke into her house on Wednesday afternoon in Jaitpur area of southeast Delhi.
At the time of the incident, the girl and her two brothers were home alone. While the two boys — Mohammed Furkhan (12) and Mohammed Naushad(15) — ran to save their lives, nine-year-old Gulfisha panicked and fainted, as the robbers barged into the house and threatened to kill them.
Their parents had gone out at the time of the incident. The mother, who had stepped out for shopping, came home to discover a ransacked house and her daughter lying on the floor.
She informed the police, who rushed the girl to the Holy Family Hospital. The victim was declared brought dead by the hospital authorities.
“There are no external injuries. We were told she fainted, after the robbers entered the house. The exact cause of death could be known only after the post-mortem examination,” Ajay Chaudhry, additional commissioner of police (southeast), said.
The chances of the robbers attacking the girl are very less, as there were no injury marks on body,” said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity.
Gulfisha, was watching television with her brothers when they saw three men barging into their house.
Their father Mohammed Imran, a carpenter, told the police that his children were alone when the robbers struck.
“In his statement he told that his three children were alone when the robbers barged into the house and threatened to kill them, if they made any noise. While the the two boys escaped from the house, Gulfisha fainted,” the officer added.
“Gulfisha could not escape but we are not sure if the robbers were armed.”
The robbers fled with Rs8000 and two gold earrings.
A case of robbery has been registered at the Jaitpur police station and hunt is on to nab them. The victim was a student of Class 3 in a nearby school.
