An 18-year-old girl was kept confined at an undisclosed location allegedly by the son of her former landlord and raped repeatedly over 12 days, police said on Thursday.
The prime accused has been arrested and a manhunt is on for a woman who had allegedly played a crucial role in the crime.
The accused, Naushaad, was arrested on Wednesday from Shakarpur following a complaint by the girl's family.
"On January 23, the victim, who resides in Shakarpur, had gone to purchase medicines from a nearby drug store when the accused met her and took her to a secluded place in his car," said a police officer.
There, the police said, an unidentified woman offered her a cold drink laced with sedatives.
"When the girl regained consciousness, she found herself in a flat. She also realized that she had been raped. She was confined in that room and raped repeatedly for the next 12 days," the officer quoted the girl's complaint.
Police said the accused dropped the victim back in Shakarpur on Sunday and threatened her not to tell anybody about the incident.
After reaching home, she narrated the entire incident to her family members who then approached the police.
They had already registered a missing person complaint when the girl didn't return home.
