Five incidents of fire were reported in the Capital on Wednesday. However, no casualty was reported.
Timber godown, Madhu Vihar, east Delhi
A major fire broke out at 7:45 am in the ground floor and basement of a multi-storey building. Thirty-five fire tenders, which were rushed to spot, took eight hours to douse the blaze.
Police said there was nobody inside the godown at the time of the incident. The godown and first floor of the building were completely gutted. Initial investigations have suggested that short circuit may have triggered the fire.
Tent house godown, Chattarpur, south Delhi
A fire broke out at 11 am in a tent house godown in Chattarpur. Nine fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Police said no one was injured in the incident. The cause of fire is not yet known.
Operation theatre, Safdarjung hospital
A minor fire broke out at an operation theatre of Safdarjung hospital at around 4 pm. Police said guards rushed and helped people evacuate. The hospital authorities claimed that it was a minor fire. "It started near the false ceiling inside one of the OTs, but no surgery was taking place in that OT," said a senior hospital official.
DTC bus, Moolchand
A low-floor DTC bus caught fire on Wednesday afternoon. Police said there were 15 passengers in the bus and it was on its way to Kalkaji when the incident took place. No one was reportedly injured but the incident caused a traffic jam. The driver noticed the smoke in the engine and asked passengers to vacate the bus. Two fire engines were rushed to the spot. The bus was completely gutted.
Car, Sarai Kale Khan
A parked Honda City car was burnt down at Sarai Kale Khan on Wednesday afternoon. The reason of fire is not yet known.
