You will no longer have to do endless rounds of the sub-registrar offices to get your property registered. Delhi government’s revenue department has now decided to issue property registration documents the same day they receive the application.
“If all the documents are in place, the registration papers will be issued the same day. In case there are shortcomings, the applicant will be given in writing what all documents they need to furnish,” said Vijay Dev, principal secretary, revenue.
As the property registration system will be online, applications received and disposed of will be monitored everyday.
The revenue department will make its renovated Mehrauli sub-registrar office functional on Monday where properties will be registered online. You will be able to pay the registration fee online and fix an appointment with the sub-registrar sitting at home.
“There are times when applicants are not even aware that their files are pending, and they continue to visit the offices without getting any information. But now, it will be mandatory for our staff to register properties, refuse it or impound the papers for undervaluation of property. This will eliminate the role of middlemen,” added Dev.
Applications will be submitted between 10am and 2pm. Between 4pm and 6pm, they will get back their registered documents or get know the status of their application. After Mehrauli, the online system will be introduced in Rohini and then the rest of the city. “Fewer people will then visit the sub-registrar offices,” added Dev.
