Govt to upgrade facilities in minority areas

Delhi Government today directed various agencies to upgrade their facilities in the minority dominated areas of the city in view of the ensuing Ramzan, the Muslim fasting month.

Revenue minister AK Walia at a meeting reviewed the preparation of various agencies like MCD, Delhi Jal Board and power distribution companies to provide their services during the Ramzan month. Walia instructed MCD to deploy additional staff for sanitation work in minority dominated areas and asked senior officers of the agency to frequently visit the localities to check the services.

The minister conveyed instructions of chief minister Sheila Dikshit to the officers to provide uninterrupted civic services during Ramzan. Walia directed the discoms to ensure uninterrupted supply of power during the course of Ramzan.

He told MCD to ensure proper cleanliness in the areas, while DJB was asked to facilitate adequate supply of water. The discoms were told to take care of streetlights and ensure proper lighting in the areas.
