With 94 days left for the Commonwealth Games, the police have yet to get a grip on street crimes in Delhi and NCR.

In less than 12 hours, four cases of murder, attempted robbery and carjacking — all in public view — were reported from Delhi and Gurgaon. Two people were killed and two injured in the incidents.

In Narela in Outer Delhi, property dealer Jasbir Singh (45) died on Wednesday when he was shot at least eight times by unknown assailants, police said.

Businessman Suni Kriplani, 25, was shot at twice by two unknown assailants when he resisted a robbery bid in Karol Bagh on Wednesday.

In Gurgaon, five armed carjackers shot at — and then dumped — Deepak Verma, 33, the driver of a Honda Accord car they had stolen from west Delhi's Janakpuri on Tuesday.

In Jyotinagar, in northeast Delhi, Afsar, 22, was shot dead when he tried to intervene in a scuffle between two groups, police said.
