Rahul Anand, a first-year student of Gurgaon’s Indian Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM), was driving back to his Punjabi Bagh residence in his SX4 this evening, when it hit the tanker parked near the median of the expressway near IFFCO Chowk. An attendant watering saplings at the median was also injured.

Anand’s car was smashed and he succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital. He had been severely injured in the head. Police said Anand possibly misjudged the distance between him and the tanker or had overlooked it.

With this, the death toll on the expressway, since it opened in February 2008, has touched 93.
