In a volte-face, Gurgaon police on Saturday bailed out the private security agency it had 'blacklisted' on March 5 terming it a “bonafide” mistake on its part.

In a volte-face, Gurgaon police on Saturday bailed out the private security agency it had 'blacklisted' on March 5 terming it a “bonafide” mistake on its part. On the other hand it announced to blacklist two private sector security agencies functioning in Palam Vihar area.

The police have come under heavy criticism for this goof up and have attracted the ire of private security agency associations. The agencies have challenged the very right of the police to blacklist them in the absence of Private Security (Regulations) Act in Haryana.

On March 5, the police department had announced to blacklist a private security agency and issued an advisory to the residents and traders’ bodies asking them not hire them as the crime rate in the areas under their control had spiralled.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), Rakesh Arya said the decision to blacklist the agency was a mistake.
