Gurgaon rally may lead to Metro mayhem

Metro commuters from Gurgaon will have a tough time on Thursday as thousands of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) workers would board trains to Delhi to attend a rally at Jantar Mantar against the land acquisition policy of Haryana government. Sanjeev K Ahuja reports.

Metro commuters from Gurgaon will have a tough time on Thursday as thousands of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) workers would board trains to Delhi to attend a rally at Jantar Mantar against the land acquisition policy of Haryana government.

Led by party chief and former state chief minister Om Parkash Chautala, the party workers from across the state are proposed to demonstrate before Parliament and submit a memorandum to President Pratibha Patil.

According to the former deputy speaker of the state assembly and former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Gurgaon, Gopi Chand Gehlot, party workers would reach a designated spot near HUDA City Centre Metro station around 9am.

They would then march towards the Metro station and board trains at 9.30am.

According to INLD leaders, party workers would board trains from other stations such as Iffco Chowk, MG Road, Sikanderpur and Guru Daronacharya.

But major group would get in from the HUDA City Centre station.

Anil Rao, the president of INLD urban unit, said workers from town areas would first assemble at 8am at a farmhouse near Atul Kataria Chwok, park their vehicles and then proceed to HUDA City Centre.

DMRC officials have advised the commuters either to board trains before 9.30am or wait for two more hours to clear the rush.
