Guwahati case: FB campaign to shame culprits heats up

The photos of the man identified as the main accused in the Guwahati mob molestation case are being shared on social networking site Facebook as a rapist who who deserves the maximum punishment.

Amarjyoti Kalita who likes to call himself the Bond on his Facebook profile page, is seen smiling all the while he was hitting and molesting the hapless girl in the video recorded by News Live reporters.

Kalita's photos are being circulated by Facebook members saying "I am Amarjyoti Kalita. I am a rapist. I thought I would get away with it. I was wrong."

Kalita's Facebook profile says he works with the Assam Electronics Development Corporation Ltd (Amtron). Amtron has since suspended Kalita.

He is seen wearing the same red t-shirt which he wore on the day he molested the girl in one of the photos posted on his page.

Kalita, according to his Facebook profile, finished his schooling from the Guwahati Refinery High School in 1995.

Amid public outcry, Assam police arrested four people from the 11 that it has identified as part of a mob.

According to reports, the men arrested are Dhanraj Basfar, a sweeper, Puspendu Das, a shopkeeper, Md Habijuddin, and 18-year-old Bikash Tiwari.

Those identified but not arrested are Rubul Ali, Debo Das, a man with the surname Baruah, Dipak Dey an auto driver, Tinku Deb and Bablu.
