Hacked by her boyfriend

Schoolteacher’s alleged partner kills her with a butcher’s knife, throws himself under a train 8 hours later, say cops.

Two years after he reportedly fell in love with her, a fit of rage drove a financial executive to hack his girlfriend — a schoolteacher — to death with a butcher’s knife in a Wagon R car near a shopping mall in east Delhi on Sunday, police said.

Hours after the incident, the perpetrator allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of an oncoming train at a railway station in the neighbouring town of Mathura.

According to police, 26-year-old Varun Mehta murdered Deepshikha Arora — his girlfriend of two years — after a bitter fall-out during a Sunday outing gone awry.

He also left behind a note on the woman’s dead body acknowledging he had been behind the crime. “He was apparently depressed after ‘irreconcilable’ differences had cropped up with her,” said a senior police officer on condition of anonymity.

“But the real bone of contention between the couple was Arora’s alleged infidelity.”

Two hours after she left her Jhilmil Colony residence to go for a drive with Mehta in his Wagon R car, Arora’s bloodied body — slashed as many as eight times — was discovered dumped in the same vehicle parked inside the CB grounds complex adjacent to the Karkardooma Courts at 9 pm.

Mehta, a resident of Vivek Vihar, reportedly used to work as an assistant manager at an international finance chain’s city office while his father, Deep Mehta is a practicing lawyer at the Delhi High Court.

Mehta then took a train to Mathura before he reportedly committed suicide by jumping in front of another one, say police.

“A special team from the district, accompanied by Mehta’s father, has been sent to Mathura to identify a corpse discovered on a railway track there. We are investigating the matter,” said KC Dwivedi DCP (east).
