A week ago, a matchstick had delayed an Air India flight by three hours at Delhi airport. On Wednesday, it was a hairpin, along with the fog, that delayed a SpiceJet Pune-Delhi flight by eight hours.
The SpiceJet flight (SG 212) developed a technical problem after a hairclip was found stuck in one of the aircraft toilet on the front.
The flight, scheduled from Pune at 11.35 am, was delayed till 3.15 pm due to dense fog in Delhi.
“When we boarded at 3 pm, a woman passenger complained that the toilet wasn’t flushing,” said a passenger who didn’t wish to be named.
The cabin crew reported the incident to the ground staff. The passengers came out of the aircraft and started protesting on the tarmac.
“The captain announced that a hairclip was stuck in the toilet and the pot will be changed in a few minutes,” he said.
It took more than two hours for the flight to take off.
The hairclip had damaged cabin pressure mechanism of the aircraft.
“We were constrained to delay the flight on account of a technical issue,” said an airline spokeswoman.
The flight landed in Delhi at 7.23 pm.
