Frustrated with the regular spells of 'torture' his wife and her family allegedly subjected him to and a bloody attack on him on Monday, a 27-year-old man approached the police for help on Thursday.
Kishan, who lives in a rented accommodation in Dakshinpuri area in south Delhi, told the police that his wife of three years used to beat him in the presence of her two brothers.
On Monday, a bruised and bleeding Kishan called the police. The control room received a call from a harried Kishan screaming "Save me from my wife, or she'll kill me".
An officer said, "According to Kishan, the trouble started the day his mother came to stay with him a few months ago. His wife didn't take kindly to his mother's presence and would often leave for her house." His wife's parents lived nearby.
Kishan, who works at a beauty parlour in Dakshinpuri, said one day his wife had an argument with him and she left for her parents' house a few months ago. She returned some time after that but since that day her brothers Vicky and Vishal started visiting his house every evening and abused him.
On Monday, things went out of control and Kishan approached the police.
"Kishan said his wife's brothers and father Tek Chand barged into his house and started beating him. They left after thrashing him," said the officer.
Kishan was taken to the Trauma Centre at AIIMS.
Police have registered a case of voluntarily causing hurt and trespassing at Ambedkar Nagar Police Station.
