In order to ensure Bhatta-Parsaul incident does not take place in Faridabad where the state government has been facing protests from the farmers demanding more compensation for their land acquired, top district officers have stepped up negotiation on Thursday with the farmers on the instructions of chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
"I received call from deputy commissioner's office, urging me to come to meet DC so that land compensation dispute is resolved," said Ram Singh, president, Kissan Sangarsh Samiti. This Samiti is fighting for enhancement in the compensation for the land acquired by the government for setting up of Industrial Model Township (IMT) near Ballabgarh in Faridabad.
"I along with many other farmers met DC Praveen Kumar this evening, who enhanced R20 lakh per acre from earlier R24 lakh per acre," Ram Singh told Hindustan Times, adding, "the total compensation package comes to R45 lakh -but we want market price of our land."
The state government has acquired about 1,832 acres of land for IMT and the villages where the land has been acquired are Chandauli, Machgar, Nawadah, Sutai and Mujedi.
Similarly, Faridabad deputy commissioner Praveen Kumar separately met farmers of Neharpar who too have been demanding compensation for their land at par with other areas in Neharpar area. The land of these farmers were acquired for laying infrastructure in the two residential sectors in Neharpar area but the farmers allege that cost of their land offered was less.
"We were told that from R16 lakh per acre (without interest) offered earlier, the government wanted to pay R45 lakh per acre now," said Shiv Dutt Vaishisht, president, Kissan Sangarsh Samiti Neharpar, adding, "We want not less than R70 lakh per acre."
The villages where the government acquired land for infrastructure development in the residential sectors are Badoli, Prahladpur, Fajupur, Mirjapur and Sihi.
The district authorities stepped up its efforts to negotiate with the farmers on Thursday fearing possibility of violent protests after the Bhatta-Parsaul incident in Greater Noida for the last a few days.
Sources said even the administration has been offering plots in the acquired land to the farmers besides R45 lakh per acre, but the farmers are unlikely to relent.
