Soon, you will be able to park your car and board the airport-bound high-speed Metro to catch your flight. Multi-level parking lots are coming up near New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium Airport Metro stations.
“Two parking lots, with a capacity of 1,500, each are expected to be functional by the end of this month. This will provide additional commuter convenience and connectivity to the airport Metro,” said a spokesperson of Reliance Infrastructure, the concessionaire company.
The concessionaire company has however, not constructed a single parking lot.
The multi-level parking at New Delhi, which is already partially operational, is a property of Delhi Metro while the one, which is coming up at Shivaji Stadium is being built by DLF.Anil P Gupta, president, Reliance Infrastructure said, "Parking facilities have become a basic necessity for every infrastructure project. We are privileged that multi-level car parking lots are coming up adjacent to New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium stations.
Reliance Airport Metro commuters can avail hassle-free car parking facility soon.”
The two busiest stations on the 22.7-km network register a footfall of more than 15,000 passengers. Currently, more than 20,000 people commute by the Airport Metro daily.
The company believes that parking facilities at the two strategic locations would not only increase Metro commuters’ base, but also catalyse retail business.
“These multi-level car parking lots will facilitate our commuters as well as the non-commuters who want to park their cars and enjoy the retail experience at these Metro stations,” said the spokesperson.
