In what comes as an affirmation in regards to his conviction that the Anna Hazare led anti-corruption movement was supported by the RSS, Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh says that he has "proof" of the RSS' links with Anna and that he shall go public with it on Wednesday.
On Tuesday Singh had written an open letter to Hazare, where Singh had said RSS and its chief Mohan Bhagwat had extended their support to him during his recent fast. He alleged that Hazare's contention that he is not aware of this raises questions about his "credibility".
Recalling that whenever he had taken the name of RSS in connection with his campaign, "You have said that I should be sent to a mental hospital, but I don't want to say anything on the matter as I respect you."
On Tuesday night he told NDTV, "I have got a letter from the RSS written to Mr Anna Hazare that they are extending full support to his campaign. I also have a copy of a letter written to all their workers asking them to support Anna Hazare's and Baba Ramdev's campaign. Ram Madhav came on dais supporting Anna Hazare. Govind Acharya ji gave a statement that most of the workers were from RSS. Total management at Ramlila Ground was done either by BJP or RSS cadre. Mr Mohan Bhagwat himself categorically made a statement that they are supporting Anna Hazare," the senior leader said.
Referring to Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal's remarks that he should come up with proofs to authenticate his claims, he said, "I will provide the written proof tomorrow (Wednesday)."
However, Anna Hazare has categorically rejected Mr Singh's allegation that he has links with the RSS.
