A domestic help and four of his associates were arrested for robbing and murdering a 72-year-old property consultant at his rented south Delhi home on Saturday afternoon, police said.
Harish Bahadur Khadait, 19, Navraj, 19, Ranga Khadka, 22, Padam Bahadur Khadka, 28, and Kamal Bahadur Budha, 23 — all of whom hail from Nepal’s Bajura district and performed odd jobs in the NCR for a living — had allegedly chalked out an elaborate plan to ransack Vijay Sarin’s Lajpat Nagar residence.
“The victim used to stay alone at the ground floor of the D block property from where the incident had been reported on Saturday afternoon,” said an officer.
Police said Sarin had recently employed a domestic help of Nepal origin whose antecedents he had not got verified. Investigation and questioning of around 60 employees of Nepali-origin led to Rohini, where Sarin’s servant Harish has been staying.
“A team was rushed and Harish and his brother-in-law Ranga were held,” the officer said. They confessed to the crime and their interrogation led to their aides who were held from Anand Vihar ISBT.
