The Vice-president of Ramjas College Students Union allegedly slashed his wrists on late on Thursday night because the college authorities allegedly refused to take action on his repeated pleas regarding fights between two groups.
The student, Abhishek Pandey (19) —a third-year political science student —alleged that On January 27, he and his friends were beaten up and the college authorities did not do anything even after the matter was brought to their notice. He said that he had even sent a letter to the Vice Chancellor and Proctor but no action was taken.
On Thursday, the two groups who involved in the fight had a meeting with the college authorities and the police in the college campus. "I told the principal that something needed to be done about the fight between different groups. But no one paid heed to what I said. They levelled allegations against me and told me to leave the meeting. I have been getting threats from students who attacked me since then," said Pandey.
Principal Dr. Rajendra Prasad denied the allegations. He said that Pandey had misbehaved with him in front of everyone and was asked to leave by faculty members.
"There was a meeting between students, police and faculty members. They had all come to discuss the incident involving two groups. He abused me in front of everyone. He has been misbehaving with the teachers and students here," he said.
