It’s not only cars that are the cause of rowdy behaviour at the Delhi auto expo. A high glamour quotient at the expo is also to be blamed.
Despite Delhi Police’s written advice, CII, the organiser of the expo, have allowed women models and cheerleaders at car enclosures during general public hours, causing further chaos.
“We had advised them to allow women models and cheerleaders only during the business hours,” said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity.
The business hours are till 1pm after which the show is thrown open for the public.
Along with swanky cars and bikes, the Delhi Auto Expo is also famous for its bevy of beauties. “A few women models have complained about groups of youngsters trying to misbehave with them. We haven’t got any written complaint till now as all these models have contracts with automobile giants and event companies,” the officer added.
To add glamour to the show, automobile exhibitors are spending big bucks for hiring foreign and local models to stand along with the cars. Many international automobile giants have flown in models from countries such as Germany and Australia.
On Tuesday, the number of visitors touched an all-time high of around 88,000 visitors. Chaos prevailed at car enclosures as thousands queued up outside pavilions of several car exhibitors.
The Delhi Police had also asked the organisers to keep the star/celebrity appearances only during the business hours but this suggestion has also been overruled.
“A lot of people come only to see Bollywood celebrities. The chaos could have been avoided easily,” the officer added.
