A Delhi University student was allegedly molested by her teacher at a tuition centre in Mukherjee Nagar area of northwest Delhi on Thursday.
The Hindi teacher has been arrested. This year alone 200 molestation cases have been registered in Delhi.
The 18-year-old undergraduate student hailing from Manipur used to go to the tuition centre in Vijay Nagar area to learn Hindi.
The victim, a student of Indraprastha College in north campus was reportedly sexually harassed by the accused identified as Yogesh Kumar (25) who used to give her lessons in Hindi.
Police said the student had joined the coaching institute on June 10, “The accused identified as one Yogesh, used to teach Hindi in the institute, started making sexual advances towards the victim since she joined classes. The situation aggravated in the following days and the accused molested her. When she protested, he threatened her of dire consequences. He forced himself on the girl on Wednesday and she ran away from the institute,” said a senior police officer.
“On Thursday the victim gave us a complaint following which a case was registered and we arrested the accused,” said NS Bundela, DCP (northwest). A case under section 354 has been registered at Mukherjee Nagar police station.
