HIV+ man bites policeman

AN HIV positive truck driver bit a constable when he tried to stop the driver from beating his wife.

The incident happened at Jahangirpuri on March 3. The constable had gone to the truck driver's residence when his wife called up the police. "He reacted on a PCR call. The wife reported that her husband was beating her," said a senior police officer.

After receiving the call, two constables went to the residence of the truck driver where they saw the man allegedly beating up his wife. One constable attended to the woman while the other tried to stop the truck driver from creating a scene. It was then the two got into a scuffle. Both fell on the ground and the driver bit both legs of the constable. He bit so hard that the constable's legs began bleeding.

The constable went to a hospital later where doctors told him that a HIV-positive patient could have bitten him. The next day the constable went to the driver's residence where his wife confirmed that her husband was HIV- positive.

The constable is reportedly now on leave and has gone to his village in Haryana.
