A hoax call caused panic at Tis Hazari Courts on Thursday. A district judge received a call warning of a terrorist attack inside the complex. The police cordoned off the area and all court proceedings were adjourned for the day.

An anonymous call to the judge said six terrorists would strike at the courts dressed as advocates.

According to the police, District Judge Mamta Sehgal received the call at 9:12 am. The call said the terrorists would carry out indiscriminate firing between 10 am and 2 pm inside the courts premises. After receiving the call, the judge called up the police control room and reported the matter.

The police reached the premises and cordoned off the area. The complex was vacated and a bomb disposal squad and the dog squad were called in to check the area.

The police later said nothing was found from the premises except for an unclaimed bag containing clothes. After conducting extensive search inside and outside the court premises, the police declared it a hoax call.

“There was a call that six men disguised as lawyers had entered the court premises. It was declared to be a hoax one. The call was traced to a local PCO near Lady Harding Medical College. We are trying to identify the caller,” said Sagarpreet Hooda, DCP (north).

Following the threat, the court proceedings and works were suspended for the day.
