Home Minister P. Chidambaram is understood to have told BJP patriarch L.K. Advani on Sunday that the government was yet to arrive at any “theory” about who could be involved in Sunday’s firing incident outside Jama Masjid, in which two foreign tourists were injured.
Advani had called up the Home Minister on phone to inquire into the steps taken by the government to handle the situation. Chidambaram told Advani that the Union government was not taking any chances and both Delhi and Mumbai have been alerted after the attack, sources close to Advani said.
Two hours after the attack, the BBC’s Hindi service received a five page e-mail from Indian Mujahideen (IM), a terror outfit, took responsibility for the firing.
