A chief security officer with a five-star hotel and his friends were threatened with a firearm and mercilessly beaten up by four men, but the Delhi Police arrested two of the assailants only 11 days later on Friday.
Bhupender Nagar, 27, and his friends Vinod Kumar, Manu and Sharad were thrashed in front of the Surya hotel in New Friends Colony on the morning of February 13.
Nagar had denied the attackers entry to the Hilton hotel’s Jynxxx club, where he works. In revenge, they followed Nagar as he left the club at 5am and cornered him.
Nagar alleged the police were shielding the attackers.
His club manager Rohit Tomar claimed: “Three persons were caught on the spot, but the police let them go.”
CCTV footage at the Surya hotel showed the men threatening Nagar and his group with a pistol and hitting them with iron rods, even after the police arrived.
“The accused — Rocky, Vikas Chauhan, Manendra and Bobby — had followed Nagar and his friends and tried to stop his car,” a senior police officer said.
“Nagar tried to drive into the Surya hotel, but the security staff stopped him. The accused arrived in a Swift and first broke his car’s windowpane with a pistol. The brawl continued for about 30 minutes until one of the victims called the police,” he said.
Tomar said the accused were barred from his club as they had created a ruckus two months ago. They had allegedly threatened Nagar several times.
Nagar said he was fired at but the police refuted this, saying no empty rounds were found.
