A day after HT reported about an overflowing garbage station next to Vivekananda School and Vivekananda Public School in Anand Vihar, the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) pulled up its socks to lift 12 metric tonnes —3½ truckloads — of waste from the spot.
"There was some problem with the loader, so the garbage had piled up. We have told the staff to maintain 9.30am as zero garbage time," said YS Mann, director (press and information), EDMC.
“The EDMC was never so active earlier,” said TK Balu, secretary of a cooperative housing society in Anand Vihar. But residents still complained about dirty streets and back lanes. Mann assured, “The staff has been instructed to intensify cleaning too.”
