Reacting to former Karnataka Chief Minister S Bangarappa's resignation from Samajwadi Party and plans to join the grand-old-party, SP leader Amar Singh on Thursday said if Congressmen in UP are "encouraged towards us, I will also open my doors".
"After Madhya Pradesh where our four MLAs went to Congress party, now Bangarappa has also gone.. Now if Congressmen in UP are encouraged towards SP, I will also open my doors," SP General Secretary Amar Singh told reporters in New Delhi.
They are treating these deductions as part of the political process. They should also treat any deductions from their rank as another part of political process in Uttar Pradesh, he said.
Singh also denied that he had in any meeting with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi cleared that he has no objections to Bangarappa joining Congress as claimed by the former Karnataka chief minister.
Earlier, Bangrappa described Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh as his "good friends".
"While discussing UP with Sonia ji, Amar Singh ji incidentally discussed my matter. I should thank him for that," he had said.
