IAS aspirant found murdered

A 24-year-old IAS aspirant and gold medalist from an Aligarh engineering college, who was kidnapped from Nehru Place area in southeast Delhi, was found killed in New Ashok Nagar on Tuesday evening. The victim, identified as Amit Sharma was living at a rented accommodation in Jia Sarai area.

“The body has been recovered and we are investigating the case,” confirmed Meghna Yadav, additional DCP (southeast). A case of kidnapping and murder has been registered at the Badarpur police station and further investigations are on.

Police sources said Sharma was last seen at the Badarpur Metro station. “He was found murdered at New Ashok Nagar and there were over a dozen stab wounds all over his body, including few at his private parts,” said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity.

The victim who had cleared his Msc in physics was a gold medalist from the DS College in Aligarh. Police sources said Sharma was living with his girlfriend whose marriage was fixed 21 days ago. “On Monday night he had gone to Badarpur with his friends to have dinner. While on his way to home he had called his mother who while talking heard him raising alarm after which phone got disconnected,” the officer added.

The body was recovered on Tuesday morning and has been sent for post-mortem examination. Police is suspecting personal enmity behind the murder and are questioning the victim’s friends.
